As I am writing this entry I am listening to Florence+the Machine who are amazingly creative. I love to listen and write all of the time. I am embracing all of my thoughts and moving forward. I understand that you have to work with who you are and how you operate. One of my friends says that she has to think things through and to plan it out before she goes ahead. That’s what works for her. She has discovered and embraced this way of doing things. I have discovered that I really like to free write and to also journal a great deal before I go ahead on a project. I accept and embrace that part of my self. Discovery is a part of the process of being alive! So live, discover, and embrace yourself! I am going to get more into the specific projects that I am working on in the next few weeks and looking at what helps me dig a little deeper.
Do not be afraid of your potential, do not be afraid of your ideas and your creative drive. One word, then another and next thing you know you have created a poem, a story, an essay! That’s like learning to walk, we did it one step at a time, and we are walking all of the time. We just seem to take it all for granted and you know expressing our soul is no different. We just needed to allow that expression. It’s so wonderful to be courting the muse again and to be expressing myself. To be in awe of the world once again! So go out there today and explore the world with your muse guiding you to a blissful place. My muse always guides me to the right music, the right books, the right words if I allow it to. Today, I am drawn to writing this while listening to Sheryl Crow’ s album “Wildflower”. May your days and nights be filled with deep inspiration .
Well, another week and it is becoming clear that I have had to dig a little deeper and remember what inspires me. I get ideas from all kinds of things . I might have a conversation with someone who makes me look up more about what we spoke of or it may be something I have read myself. I also find that the things that I may want to write will tell me what form they should be written in whether it be a short story, a poem, an essay or even a novel. I am beginning to understand that it could be a particular word or subject that just speaks to me as a character or as a string of words that play out in a rhythm.
I reminded myself as well that I love listening to all kinds of music that give me images and ideas that really work to spark my imagination. I get a series of images and thoughts from listening to pop music such as Imogen Heap and other artists of that caliber. I look at photos and artwork from all time periods and again come up with my own ideas of what they could mean. Life is so great that way! So look for your forms of inspiration and be guided to the fullest extent of your potential as a writer, an artist or creator in any form.
Excuses Begone! by Wayne Dyer will in fact revolutionize the way you approach your whole life and wow that’s good for a start. No more excuses for not living your dreams, for not living up to your potential. I am continuing to come out of the fog.
I have been avoiding all of my projects because I held this belief that in order to be efficient I had to focus on one thing at a time. Then of course I got distracted and then did nothing. Now I am working out a schedule that will allow for all of my projects to get equal attention and not be shouting out to me like little toddlers that need to get outside to play. I have found that projects feed one another and that is the way I work best. I’ll let you know more about each of the individual projects as they progress and about the tools that I am using to progress in each of these areas. I would also appreciate any feedback from anyone who is working through their own fears about their creativity.
